Day 49; Traffic Change On Lakewood Blvd

This is a friendly reminder of the traffic changes at the Beach (Lakewood/Fisk) this week. Traffic will be funneled into one lane for a short segment. To avoid this area, you may want to leave the Village using the northern route past the Village Marina. Good Luck. T

  1. Hi Tim, I'm sure this isn't the correct way to do this but I can't figure out another way to post to this blog, sorry!

I live on N Sherman Ave and, as happens every Spring and Summer, the traffic picks up in speed and volume. Is there ANYTHING that you know of to address the speeders? I swear some cars are topping off at 50 mph. I can see an accident ending up in my living room at that rate of speed.

I volunteer to have a speed monitor in the grassy area between the sidewalk and road. The police can park in my driveway and issue tickets. Give me a hand held laser gun, if there is such a thing, and I'll track the speeders myself!

I am truly that desperate and disgusted with the whole thing. This the 13th year in our home and it gets worse all the time.

As I said, this is probably not the correct way to contact you about this but please let me know what is.

    Thank you! Eileen Sabroff

  2. Thanks Eileen. If you are OK with an officer using your driveway, I will offer that up to them. We are always looking for good spots to sit. I dont know site lines and other potential problems, but we can take a look. We can also get the speed board to the area. You are correct that Sherman can get bad; I dont know that it is worse now than in the past, but traffic can really move. We currently run a fair amount of speed enforcement on N Sherman and Sherman and a good number of tickets get issued; yet, the speeding continues. You can drop me an email directly at tjkrueger67@hotmail.com.

  3. Thanks Tim, I really appreciate your quick reply. I know Maple Bluff does what it can to issue tickets and I'm glad about that. I think maybe it's just the increased volume that we see in the summer that makes it seem so much worse. Warner Park, Mallards games, everything we enjoy about living here makes for increased traffic, seemingly. I like the speed board option. I know they make me slow down when I race down other people's streets. Kidding... Thanks again, Eileen
